About
Where it all began …
My love for food and working with my hands in the kitchen all starting in my grandmother’s kitchen. From a young age I can remember sitting on her kitchen counter with a spoon in my hand, ready to help her when the opportunity came my way. I watched her cook and bake on a daily basis, and considering I am a visual learner, this worked in my favor. Whenever possible, I would jump at the chance to help my grandma by measuring, mixing, and stirring.
Over time, I began to develop my own methods while cooking and baking, which didn’t always work out so well in grandma’s kitchen. Isn’t that so true of us kitchen pioneers? It’s our way, in our kitchen, or we will have to (politely) ask you to get out! [Smirk]. I was determined to have my own kitchen one day, taking control over all things food related and soon enough, I did.
What is PANTRY LANE?
My journey began while hosting a cooking group in my home years ago, which inspired my first blog, “The Stocked Pantry”. After some time I wanted to incorporate my passion for other creative outlets, I created Pantry Lane, a food and lifestyle blog that combines my love for all things food and my appreciation for authentic creativity. Once graphic designer, I now gear my creative energy into my personal taste and pursuits. Among many, food, family, travel, and design are highlights. I aspire to encourage others to make simple and delicious meals, while having fun, and being adventurous.
A bit about MICHELLE
First and foremost, my identity is in Christ. I am married to my best friend, and the mother of three young kids. Time with my family is precious; therefore I limit my time in the kitchen by keeping my recipes simple and delicious. In my spare time you will find me: mowing my grass, painting with my kids, traveling around the world with my husband, creating new recipes, tackling DIY projects around my house, organizing something, giving interior design advice to family and friends and pretending like I am actually a long distance runner.
The recipes you will find on this blog are a reflection of my personal taste. I shoot all my photos with my Cannon T1i. Please get permission to use any of my photos or to publish any of my original recipes.
Pictured above is the aluminum mixing bowl I grew up using in my grandmother’s kitchen. This bowl was my great-grandmother’s, passed down to my grandma, who gifted it to me. It is the kitchen item I remember using most growing up and it brings back so many fond memories as I use it today.
Let’s get creative!
Hugs,
