1/3 C pumpkin pie puree • 1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/2 C whipping cream • nutmeg or dark chocolate to top
I served this hot cocoa beverage for the Thanksgiving Prep Course I hosted last week. It was such a hit the ladies said I should share the recipe and so I am. This is the perfect comfort drink on a cold night. Warm milk, rich chocolate, hearty pumpkin and a hint of spice, all you need is a warm fire to snuggle by.
Prep your homemade whipping cream first!
In a large sauce pan warm the milk, sugar and cocoa powder over medium heat. Once ingredients are combined add in the pumpkin puree and the pumpkin pie spice. You may want to use a hand blender to mix in and allow flavors to meld for a bit. Serve cocoa with homemade whipping cream and shaved chocolate or freshly grated nutmeg.
Serves 4
notes: Make sure as you heat up the milk you do not allow it to boil.
