1 1/2 C sugar • 1 T pure vanilla extract • 1 vanilla bean, seeded
2 C frozen or fresh dark cherries, pitted and chopped
It’s true, I have a sweet tooth … but I like to make sweets more than I like to eat them. It brings me joy to see that others can thoroughly enjoy a treat that I made for them. When it comes to ice cream, there is no comparison, homemade is always best. In addition to a yummy vanilla ice cream I added some cherries and hot fudge to this simple and quick recipe. Chocolate + cherries + vanilla = a win, win ice cream.
Ice Cream Directions:
If you don’t have an electric ice cream maker then you can also whip this by hand, although I’d recommend the machine. I have the Cuisinart 1-1/2-Quart Automatic Ice Cream Maker, which I love and would recommend. However, if your planning on making a lot of ice cream at a time you will need something bigger. In a large mixing bowl combine half and half or milk, whipping cream, sugar and vanilla. Turn on your Ice Cream Maker and pour mixture in. As the mixture begins to thicken slowly add in the chopped cherries and the vanilla bean seeds. Allow ice cream to form and thicken before placing it into a freezer ready, air tight container. Allow ice cream to ripen in freezer for about 4 hours. Enjoy with your favorite toppings, I recommend the Homemade Hot Fudge recipe below.
